Why we're unique!

ProtoWorks is housed within the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, a center that provides the expertise, support, and connections MIT students need to become effective entrepreneurs. We serve all MIT students, across all schools, across all disciplines.

This contributes to a unique culture in ProtoWorks of makers and entrepreneurs from all backgrounds across the Institute.  The center has whiteboard walls, conference rooms you can book for meetings, tons of open space to work, and a kitchen equipped with ramen and coffee.  Within ProtoWorks, we have everything you need to bring your entrepreneurial ideas to life – clay and foam working materials, 3D printers, a laser cutter, hand and bench tools, electronics and soldering stations, an Other Mill (desktop CNC mill great for circuit boards), desktop thermoformer, vinyl cutter, and more!
